I have been a Chief Executive Officer of major mining corporations in Africa, Russia, the United Kingdom, China and the Middle East and held senior executive/board positions in including senior executive positions in Anglo American Corporation (Africa), De Beers (Africa/Ireland/Sweden), British Energy(UK), British Rail (UK), Murray and Roberts (Dubai), the Press Corporation (Malawi), Basic Element (Russia), Kinross (Russia), Maple Minerals Corporation (Canada), White Tiger Gold (Russia), and CIC Gold Group (the United Kingdom and China) and the European Developments Corporation (Europe)
I have advised several governments in the former Eastern Europe on economic growth and expansion of primary industry in addition to Oman, Malawi, and South Africa and was responsible for establishing the European Developments Corporation under the auspices of the then EU. Following this, I was, for several years, a Senior Advisor on African Affairs to the World Economic Forum, attending the annual meeting of government and business leaders at Davos.
Currently, I am Group CEO of EDC Holdings Group and a director of several companies in Mining, Energy and Financial Services. In June 2017 I joined the Advisory Board of Cedrus Investments Ltd as Strategic Advisor (Cedrus Investments Ltd, is a Hong Kong based global boutique investment company).
My experience and expertise includes Project Management (Capital Projects), public and corporate administration, including privatisation, operational and economic restructuring issues. I am seen by my peers as an expert in the field of Mining, Metallurgy and Energy economics; in developing mining and primary metallurgical companies and in restructuring distressed assets. I am a regular speaker at international conferences.
I have a post graduate degree in Engineering, am a chartered engineer, and hold fellowships of several major professional institutions in the UK. In 2014, I was the recipient of the Medal for Excellence, awarded for outstanding contribution to the global mining/metallurgical industry, by the institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the United Kingdom.”
