Australian Strategic Materials (ASM) is building a global rare earths and critical minerals business to provide the high-tech metals needed to solve the challenges of today and the future.
Central to ASM’s mine to metals strategy is the Dubbo Project in NSW, Australia – a large, long-life resource of rare earths and critical minerals. ASM is developing the project to produce a range of metal oxides and mixed chlorides. ASM has completed extensive testwork to establish an advanced flowsheet and optimise recoveries.
Once operational, products from the Dubbo Project will be refined into high-purity metals and alloys at ASM’s global metals plants – the first of which has been established in South Korea.
The Korean Metals Plant (KMP) is in commercial production of light rare earth products (NdPr and NdFeB) and is ramping up production of heavy rare earth metals (dysprosium and terbium).
ASM is currently exploring the opportunity to replicate the KMP facility in the United States to support the development of an emerging alternative rare earth and critical mineral supply chain.
