EITI

ANDREW A. IRVINE is the Legal and Corporate Engagement Director at the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), the global standard for the good governance of oil, gas and mineral resources.  

Andy advises the EITI Secretariat and implementing countries on the development of institutional and legal frameworks to meet the EITI Standard, particularly regarding transparency on beneficial ownership, contracts, commodity trading, state-owned enterprises, supply chains, environmental reporting, and artisanal and small-scale mining. He also engages with oil and gas and mining companies, financial institutions and commodity traders on transparency and natural resource governance issues. He leads the EITI Secretariat on its ESG strategy, including advice to companies and other stakeholders on the use of EITI data to meet existing and emerging disclosure obligations. Andy is currently based in Oslo, Norway.

Prior to joining the EITI, Andy was a U.S.-based attorney specializing in environmental and natural resources law. Andy holds a B.S. in Geological Sciences from the University of Notre Dame, a M.S. in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines, and a J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School.
