Tzila Katzel leads sustainability and social performance for Newcrest Mining – Australia’s largest and one of the world’s leading gold mining companies.
As Group Manager of Sustainability and Social Performance, Tzila is the strategic lead for Newcrest’s integrated sustainability portfolio, including managing net-zero 2050 target, offsets strategy, social performance, and sustainability activities.
Tzila is an expert in climate change policy, carbon markets and the energy transition. Prior to joining Newcrest, she was Director Policy, Environment and Community Affairs at bp Australia. She has also previously held senior positions with KPMG, was a policy advisor during the World Summit on Sustainable Development and a program manager for the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Tzila is a Board member of the Australian Industry Greenhouse Network (AIGN) and previously was a Board Director of the CO2CRC. She holds two Master degrees – one in Sustainable Development and the other in Environmental Science.
