Minerals Council of Australia

Minerals Council of Australia

The Minerals Council of Australia is the national voice of the minerals industry, representing companies that account for approximately 80% of the total value of Australia’s minerals production and operate primarily at the federal level. Its membership includes major producers, mid-tier companies, smaller explorers, and associate members who provide services to the sector.

It also works in partnership with state-based chambers, ensuring alignment across jurisdictions while supporting regions such as the Northern Territory and Victoria directly.

The MCA advocates for policy settings that support investment, competitiveness, and the long-term growth of the industry and acts as a conduit between industry, government, and the broader community, engaging closely with federal agencies and ministerial offices across a range of policy areas including taxation, workplace relations, environmental approvals, foreign investment and trade.

During 2026, the MCA is prioritising skills development, diversity, and stronger partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This includes supporting meaningful economic participation and ensuring that traditional owners are appropriately resourced to engage effectively in mining.
