Born with a Copper Spoon: A Global History of Copper, 1830–1980

I'm a historian with over ten years experience in research and consultancy projects. I hold a PhD in history from the University of Oxford and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 2022.

My research explores histories of work, migration, international connections and the mining industry in Southern Africa, and I have published widely on these topics for both specialist and general audiences.

I have worked in Africa, Europe and North America, and have experience of conducting research at archives, libraries, museums and private collections in 12 different countries.

I have also taught at leading universities around the world and have delivered masterclasses on research methods at universities in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, South Africa and the UK.
