Terry was appointed as Chief Development Officer at AngloGold Ashanti and a member of the Executive Committee with effect from 1 April 2022.

His portfolio at AngloGold Ashanti includes Corporate Strategy and Business Development, Greenfields Exploration, and oversight of Non-Operated Joint Ventures. His focus is on optimization and sustainable growth for the Company overseeing the implementation of several value-add opportunities including the recent acquisition of Centamin brining in a highly accretive operating asset into the portfolio and divestment of the non-core projects such as Gramalote in Colombia and Dorpopo in Cote d’Ivoire.

Mr. Briggs has over 25 years of experience, including several site-based technical and operations management roles at a series of underground and open pit base and precious metal operations globally at all stages of development from start-up to closure. Prior to joining AngloGold Ashanti, Mr. Briggs spent over a dozen years at Newmont Corporation in various leadership roles in Technical Services, Corporate Development and Finance, where he played a prominent role in a variety of large-scale transactions and value-add initiatives.

Mr. Briggs has been a representative on various geology and mining industry bodies and has authored several publications on engineering, geology, and exploration. He is also a Fellow of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (FAusIMM) and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Geological Society of America Foundation. Mr. Briggs holds a Bachelor of Science from Monash University and a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
