The Melbourne Mining Club, founded in 2001, is a not-for-profit organisation formed by a volunteer-based Steering Committee to promote the minerals and resources industry.

A JV between the AusIMM and the Minerals Council of Australia with IMARC as a Foundation Member, the club has blossomed into the pre-eminent networking organisation for the resources sector. Its six bi-monthly industry lunches attract speakers from the world’s leading mining and mining services companies. Industry leaders, executives and associates from the resources sector make up the club’s 3,000+ membership.

The Melbourne Mining Club organises five popular Cutting Edge events a year in Melbourne for the small and medium cap companies. It also runs well-attended international events which attract resource investors to meet with and listen to leaders of the global mining sector. The club’s annual dinner in London, for example, is a highlight of the global resource calendar and has become the centrepiece of an Australian Mining Week in that city.

The club is committed to fostering and promoting innovation, from exploration to processing and mining technologies, and to Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) across the industry. The club has a strong commitment to safety and shares the resource industry’s firm belief that its workers should leave work at the end of the day in the same healthy and safe condition that they arrived at the start of their shift. Sponsoring educational excellence in the mining disciplines is the final pillar of the Club’s ambitions. The Club also supports encouraging students to consider a career in the resources sector.
